At Pulse Marketing, every quarter we organize an opportunity for our team to serve our community and help a nonprofit. This quarter we were introduced to The Valentines Project. They are a charitable organization that supports children from birth to 21 years of age whose lives are affected by cancer or chronic illness. Year-round they have their Kindness Card Program where they send out personalized greetings cards that spread love, hope, and joy to kids throughout the United States all year long!

As creatives at heart, we thought this was the perfect opportunity for our team to use their skills and make fun creative cards to help put a smile on a child’s face. Since our team is all currently working remote due to Covid-19 restrictions, we ended up gathering all together in a video call where we played music, bonded as a team, thought of fun light-hearted jokes to write in the cards, and shared how each of our cards turned out. One of our favorite jokes we wrote in the cards was: “What did the little corn say to the Mama corn?…Where is Popcorn?”

It was great to have the opportunity as a team to spread some extra love and kindness through The Valentines Project. It’s not every day our team gets the chance to get off the computer and actually work with colored pencils, markers, and paper. We put our drawing skills and creativity to the test and ended up creating over 30+ cards in a span of an hour. We filled our cards with fun drawings, illustrations, jokes, and some kind quotes.

Besides the Kindness Card Program, The Valentines Project also has other volunteer opportunities like donating for their special one-of-a-kind Valentine Gift Boxes that they send out to kids in Ohio and the greater San Francisco Bay area. Not only do they have that opportunity but if you are skilled in sewing then they also have their Pillowcase Program where you can showcase your unique talents by creating a special one-of-kind handmade pillowcase that they put into their Valentine Gift Box.

We really admire the great work The Valentines Project is doing for children dealing with cancer and chronic illnesses and encourage you to create some Kindness Cards of your own, whether it’s just you or you make it an event with family, co-workers, or friends.
